Movie Review: Let Us Prey

I was bored, one night, and decided to cruise Netflix for a movie. The film, “Let Us Prey”, Is a Scottish film (or Irish same thing) starring folks you wouldn’t know. Well, except for the guy that was in Game of Throne as the sailor who was missing his fingers. If you watch the Game of Thrones, I’m sure you rooted for the guy but he probably died so you wouldn’t really remember him. I haven’t gotten that far in Game of Thrones, but I did see him.

Anyway, no one you would know the name of stars in the film.

It’s about a woman on her first night on the job at a Scottish (Irish) jail. She is working with two other cops (those to are lovers) and a police captain. I know: must be a small jail. It starts out innocent enough. A drunk gets arrested and they find blood on his car. They know he has hit someone, but don’t know who. They decide t arrest him until he says what happened. That’s whe they arrest the guy from Game of Throne. He’s bleeding, not very cooperative and a smidgen creepy. The police thing he is the one the kid ran over.

That’s when things get weird.

The police captain begins to have visions when interviewing the Game-of-Thrones guy and thing brgin to deteriorate. But the Game-of-Thrones guy is way too cool, ends up in a jail call and crap just goes bad from there.

I can’t say too much more. I want you to see the movie.

How do a rate it? Four of five stars.

This movie is a thinker. If you have ever read Milton’s “Paradise Lost”, you’ll understand this film. If you haven’t; you might think the movie is just weird. Either way, it kind of works.

From an intellectual level, the movie questions the negativity of evil and Hell. Is Hell evil or are the keepers of Hells doing a service whilest the occupants of Hell are evil. Are the Devil and his minions necessary? Are they really bad or are they volunteers (trashmen, per say) for Heaven that deal with the evil? These are the questions the movie really asks. Is the Devil a fallen angel? Not necessarily a villian but just an anti-hero; one who has a different opinion of the hero but also might not be wrong?

For those who don’t give a crap about intellectual thought, the chicks are hot and it’s a violent film. But not great.

This is a movie that requires thinking. It’s not a date film. You want mindless entertainment: forget it. You feel like having a conversation with a friend when you are finished watching: this movie is perfect.

I always like thinking. Four out of five.
